We all know that we have been placed in this world for a certain period of time, We know for sure that when our stipulated time on earth comes to an end, our next journey begins, with this we can say “We are on a journey from God to God”, What this means is We were once with God, from there we were sent on earth and from here we will go back to God again.
Meaning, we are here on a journey or we can say we are a”Traveler”
Keeping this in mind, we have to live our life in this temporary world in the same way as how a traveler stays in certain place during his journey.
It is of greatest blessing that ALLAH choose us to be from those who acknowledge ALLAH as their Lord or Rabb.
We have to take this opportunity as a blessing from almighty that he has favored us for being Muslims, with this half the battle is won, now we have to work for the rest half.
With this I mean, As this life is temporary and we for sure will be going to our next abode which is permanent, and there are only two residencies there One Eternal Hell and One Eternal Paradise, and we have to be strive for getting entry into the Paradise.
In order to do so, We have to take maximum benefit of our time on earth.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has said ” Take benefit of 5 before 5, Health before sickness, free time before getting occupied, wealth before take away, youth before old-age and life before death”
How great it would be if we take heed from this Blessed advice from ALLAH’s messenger, remember there is no “U-Turn” once we enter the next world, either there is eternal success or an eternal failure.
In Surah As-Sajda (32), ALLAH says
“If you could but see when the criminals are hanging their heads before their Lord, [saying], “Our Lord, we have seen and heard, so return us [to the world]; we will work righteousness. Indeed, we are [now] certain.” (12) And if We had willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me will come into effect [that] “I will surely fill Hell with jinn and people all together. (13) So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do.” (14)
So Brothers and Sisters, we have to seriously take a heed now (starting with me first) , and try to do as much good as possible.
The first step in this is to make a repentance for what we have been doing all these years, for serious repentance will wipe out the Sin as our Rabb ALLAH is ever forgiving ever merciful.
Anas bin Malik Al-Ansari (MayAllah be pleased with him) the servant of the Messenger of Allah narrated:Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Verily, Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His slave than a person who lost his camel in a desert land and then finds it (unexpectedly)”. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Second, is to make Sincere Intention of returning towards our Rabb – ALLAH because Actions are judged as per intentions and so if we make a sincere intention then ALLAH would make us succeed.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Allah does not look at your figures, nor at your attire but He looks at your hearts and accomplishments”. [Muslim].
Thirdly, Making Dua and lots of Dua.
We all know Dua is considered to be worship, if we make Dua then 1st thing is we get rewarded for Worship and 2nd is ALLAH never rejects a rightful Dua, meaning if we are asking for ALLAHs assistance then Surely ALLAH would help us, so never ever underestimate the Power of Dua.
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided. (2:186)
Fourth, being Watchful of ALLAHs commandments.
Shaddad bin Aus (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, “A wise man is the one who calls himself to account (and refrains from doing evil deeds) and does noble deeds to benefit him after death; and the foolish person is the one who subdues himself to his temptations and desires and seeks from Allah the fulfillment of his vain desires”.[At-Tirmidhi].
This Hadith should be enough for us in accounting ourselves, By merely saying we want to change without any practical efforts will not bring us any good as ALLAH does not reward on mere desires and yearnings not supported by any noble action. (this again is a reminder for me first).
All the above points should be coupled with Rightful knowledge, patience and perseverance, because:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who follows a path in quest of knowledge, Allah will make the path of Jannah easy to him. The angels lower their wings over the seeker of knowledge, being pleased with what he does. The inhabitants of the heavens and the earth and even the fish in the depth of the oceans seek forgiveness for him……”[Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi].
Remember brothers and sisters, We came alone in this Dunia, and we shall go alone, but what we take with us is nothing but our Eman in ALLAH and Good Deeds with us, if we lack in this then our journey ahead would be extremely difficult and we may be doomed if ALLAH’s mercy will not cover us.
So lets invest in our future, no matter how many difficulties we may come across, distractions from Iblis, or our friends relatives or our own selves, procrastination etc.. lets strive to achieve ALLAH’s Raza & acceptance, even if may may not attain 100% of perfection due to our in-capacities and weakness, lets make our intentions 100% sincere, so ALLAH will see our intentions and forgive our shortcomings and reward us with eternal success, like the man who killed 100 people yet was granted Jannah because of his sincerity and ALLAH’s extreme forgiveness & Generosity Ameen.
